APRIL 2025 | Project Forecast Completion & Variance

Updated over 4 months ago

Product Release Date: April 11, 2025

Overview

Uncertain construction timelines are a persistent challenge for project stakeholders. Our new Forecast Completion feature — now available in beta on the Portfolio page — brings data-driven predictability to project planning. By analyzing historical progress trends, teams can now anticipate estimated project completion dates earlier and more accurately.

What’s New?

Forecast Completion is designed to give you clear, timely insights into when your projects are likely to wrap up — but only when the data is meaningful and fresh.

  • Forecasts will appear once a project is at least 65% complete and there’s been a recent data capture within the last 30 days.

  • We analyze progress over a 60-day window, using a straightforward trend model to estimate the completion date.

  • If a project’s progress is actively moving forward, you’ll see a forecast. But if things have stalled (i.e., no measurable progress), the forecast will temporarily disappear until progress picks up again.

  • Forecasting will automatically stop once a project hits 98% completion — at that point, you're essentially done.

  • For projects that have both a baseline completion date and a forecasted completion date, a Variance will be calculated to show how many days you're projected to be ahead or behind schedule.

We’ve also made a couple of updates to improve clarity on the Portfolio page:

  • The “% Change” metric has been removed to reduce noise.

  • The column order has been updated to better reflect how teams review project health:
    Last Walk → Progress → Momentum → Baseline → Forecast → Variance

Note: This is an initial beta version. We’ll be refining the model and adding new visuals in upcoming releases.
