What's behind the colors indicating Momentum on the Portfolio Dashboard?

Momentum is the color indicator in the Momentum column of the Portfolio Dashboard. One glance tells you whether a project is behind its schedule, moving along, or has gone quiet.

The three colors

  • Red warning triangle — Behind Schedule. The project is forecast to finish after its baseline completion date, or it is already past that date. The red zone also lights up on the progress graph inside the project.

  • Green triangle — On Track. The project is on pace for its baseline date, or ahead of it.

  • Yellow warning triangle — Inactive. No recent measurable progress. Work on the project has gone quiet.

  • No icon. Either the project has no progress data yet, or it is at or near completion.

A project that is both stalled and behind schedule shows red. Behind schedule takes precedence, because the date is the more urgent fact. If you want to know whether work is also moving, open the project and look at the Progress Tracking table.

NOTE: OnsiteIQ progress tracking is based on the detection of work in place construction objects across 24 major milestones of construction. We are tracking the Substantial Completion of the project based on what we can see from the photos gathered on our weekly walkthrough of your project. 100% complete = all 24 construction milestones are now complete. We cannot track something like a Certificate of Occupancy being obtained as this is not something we can track from our imagery.

How this differs from the Progress Tracking table

The dashboard answers one question for each project: Are we on track towards substantial completion of the project in order to deliver by its baseline completion date. That is why there is a single icon per row.

The Progress Tracking table answers two questions at once, trade by trade and location by location. The cell background tells you whether work is moving, and the text color tells you whether it will finish on time. So a trade can be Active and Behind Schedule at the same time, which is a useful thing to see up close and too much detail for a portfolio list.

Looking for the colors inside a project? The Progress Tracking table uses Active, Inactive and Behind Schedule. See What the Colors in the Progress Tracking Table Mean.

Why a baseline matters here

Behind Schedule and On Track are both judged against the project's baseline completion date. Without a baseline there is nothing to measure against, so a project can only ever show as active or inactive.

Send your construction schedule to assistant@onsiteiq.io and we set the baseline dates for you (recommended), or enter them yourself in the app. See Set Up Your Projects for Full Schedule Tracking.
