MCP lets you connect an AI assistant to OnsiteIQ so you can ask it about your projects without leaving that assistant. Instead of opening OnsiteIQ to check where a project stands, you ask Claude, ChatGPT, or Microsoft Copilot, and it reads your OnsiteIQ data to answer.
Two things to know first. The OnsiteIQ MCP server is available on Enterprise projects only, and the feature is in Beta. Your Agent only ever sees the projects your own OnsiteIQ account can already see.
Find your server URL
Click the gear icon at the bottom of the left sidebar to open Settings.
Select MCP under GENERAL.
Under Server, click Copy next to the server URL.
The URL is https://api.onsiteiq.io/mcp. Access is controlled by signing in with your own OnsiteIQ account during setup. You need this URL for Claude and ChatGPT. Microsoft Copilot does not use it.
Set up Claude
Open Claude and go to Customize > Connectors.
Click Add custom connector and paste the server URL.
Click Connect. A browser window opens so you can sign in with your OnsiteIQ account. Approve access.
In any chat, click the + button, select Connectors, and toggle on OnsiteIQ.
On Claude Team or Enterprise plans, an Owner must first add the connector under Organization settings > Connectors. Members then click Connect on it.
Feel free to loop in your OnsiteIQ Customer Success Manager with your internal IT team for support.
Set up ChatGPT
In ChatGPT on the web, go to Settings > Security and login and turn on Developer mode.
Go to Settings > Plugins, click +, and paste the server URL.
Sign in with your OnsiteIQ account and approve access.
In a chat, select the OnsiteIQ plugin from the tools menu.
On ChatGPT Business or Enterprise workspaces, an admin controls Developer mode and must publish the plugin to the workspace. Setup is available on ChatGPT web only.
Set up Microsoft Copilot
Copilot installs OnsiteIQ as an app rather than as a custom MCP connection, so there is no server URL to paste. You do need access to Microsoft 365 Copilot.
Open the OnsiteIQ Copilot MCP Agent listing on the Microsoft Marketplace.
Click Get it now and follow the prompts to add OnsiteIQ to Microsoft 365 Copilot.
Open the OnsiteIQ agent in Copilot and sign in with your OnsiteIQ account to approve access.
You can also install it from inside Copilot: go to Install apps > Get more apps and search for OnsiteIQ.
Your Microsoft 365 workspace admin may need to install and enable the OnsiteIQ app at the organization level before it is available to you.
MCP or the OnsiteIQ AI Agent?
Both let you ask questions in plain language, and which one fits depends on where you want to be working.
The AI Agent lives inside OnsiteIQ, scoped to one project, and its answers link straight to the floor plans and 360° views behind them. See Getting Started With the OnsiteIQ AI Agent.
MCP brings OnsiteIQ data into the agent you already use, alongside whatever else you have connected there.
